May Field Notes: Moldova, Wine, and a Table in the Forest
May was supposed to be quieter. But it wasn't.
I cancelled the honey tasting I had planned and packed my bags instead. I flew back to Moldova—the country I left 24 years ago—with a small Kenyan delegation of founders and connectors who came to discover what East Africa and Eastern Europe can build together.

What followed was two weeks we will carry for a long time, for a lifetime! We laughed, we cried, and we had a blast!
We drove for days through landscapes so green they looked painted. Watched sunrises from Văleni and sunsets at Green Village.

Drank extraordinary wine in the world's largest underground wine cellars—kilometers of tunnels carved beneath the earth, storing wines that most of the world has never tasted.

We were received with genuine warmth by the Tourism Office of Moldova, and we received an official invitation from the Office of Wine and Vineyards. We even did a short interview for Moldovan national television during the Spring Wine Vernissage hosted by the Wine of Moldova Office. Still can't quite believe that one. 🍷
What became clear across every conversation: Moldova is a small country doing extraordinary things—in wine, in agriculture, in cultural heritage—that the world has barely noticed yet.
And Kenya is ready to notice.
Our next chapter is already taking shape—bringing Kenyan businesses to Moldova for the 25th National Wine Day for B2B meetings with wineries and agricultural producers.
I will say this plainly:

Kenya is yet to discover the world's best wines. And they are not coming from France.
May also confirmed something I have been building quietly for months.
The Founders' Table, our inaugural forest-to-table experience at ForestFoods in Limuru, is now taking its final registrations. The event will take place at ForestFoods on June 13th, from 10 am to 4 pm, a working syntropic food forest in the Limuru highlands. A guided walk through the rows. A Heritage Lab where you craft your own herbal infusion or oil blend. A 4-course seasonal lunch by a guest chef. A fireside conversation on regenerative food systems.
No slides. No pitch deck. Just the forest — and the people who want to understand it.
20 guests maximum. Ksh 10,500 all-inclusive.
RSVP by June 6th.
